A Clock Tower Garden Wedding

Soft, overcast light from start to finish — the kind that lets a white fur stole and a white dinner jacket stay white, with no hard shadows to fight. The setting was a garden of dense evergreen shrubs and paved paths below a cream building with a clock tower and arched windows, and past the hedges a flat, pale stretch of water. It was cold enough for a puffer jacket over the dress on the walk over, and cold enough that the stole stayed on all day.

What the frames keep coming back to is the laughing — cheek to cheek, forehead to forehead, one hand on his face, the bouquet pressed between them. Nothing about it was hurried. On a day like this we work as two: while you are getting ready one of us is with each of you, and once you are together one of us stays tight on your faces while the other steps back for the garden and the building.
